Utp 86 FN

UTP 86 FN is a nickel-iron electrode used for welding cast iron components and repairing cracks in cast iron. It has a fast deposition rate and thin, easily removable slag. The deposited metal has a resistance limit over 590 N/mm2, 20% stretching, and hardness of 150-200 HB. It contains 1.0% C, 1.2% Si, 0.8% Mn, 60.0% Ni, and 37.0% Fe. The electrode is used with CC+ current and can be configured between 2.5x250mm and 4.0x400mm depending on the current between 70-140A. The welding area must be cleaned, the arc kept short and

UTP 86 FN

: ENiFe-Cl

Application Field
UTP 86 FN is a Nicke-Iron electrode for the welding of new cast iron and repair of cracks in cast iron components.
Due to its high mechanic resistance, UTP 86 FN is indicated for the welding of nodular cast iron, gray cast iron and
junction of carbon steel with cast iron.
Welding Characteristics
This electrode has a fast deposition characteristic and it does not result in redness. UTP 86 FN has a thin layer of an
easily removable slag.

Welding Instructions
Carefully clean the area to be welded. Remove the superficial crust of the cast material. The arch should be short
and the electrode should be 15 inclined towards the welding. The chords should be straight. Do not oscillate the
electrode too much. Except for the initial pass, all other passes should be hammered hot in the contraction stage in
order to neutralize any tension on the welding chord. Keep the inter-pass temperature in small thickness materials
equal to the base metal.
