Job Description for CNC Programming Engineer

This role is responsible for producing offline CNC programs, Tooling Sheet, Setting Sheets
and general engineering support.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

To provide an offline programming service for the shop floor.


To create method sheets, tooling sheets, setting sheets, planning and process
drawings, jig and fixture drawings and assist in the management of consumable
tooling.
To ensure all routings are accurate, simple to understand and up to date.
To accurately design at minimum cost, all jigs and fixtures required for
manufacture.
Responsible for maintaining CNC program number database.
Responsible for ensuring proven programs and associated paperwork are stored
on the network.
To be fully aware of the latest technological advances in cutting and machine tools.
To ensure that the company benefits from best value in all consumable tooling
purchased.
Assist with compiling machining times for quoting for new work
Assist in the selection and justification of new machine tools
Support Engineering activities when necessary
To have a completely flexible and can do attitude to all tasks required and working
practices.
Job specification does not limit the Employees duties, and the company may
require the Employee, from time to time to do any work within their capability

Skill Requirements:

Strong engineering background including precision machining, ideally in a


subcontract environment, dealing with low volume, high value complex
components.
Ideally 5 years minimum experience with the offline Programming of CNC Milling
and Turning machines.
Working knowledge of engineering materials including exotics such as Inconel,
Super Duplex and Titanium, and able to optimise the cutting performance and
processing of such materials.
Experience of various machine tool controls and CADCAM/MASTERCAM.

Able to manage and deliver engineering projects within budgeted costs and time
scales.
Effective team player and communicator.
