Data Tables: RC Circuit

This document contains data tables and experimental results from investigating RC, RL, and RLC circuits. Table 6.1 shows that the experimentally measured impedance magnitude and phase angle for an RC circuit were within 13-22% and 9% of theoretical values. Similarly, Tables 6.2-6 show experimental results within 15-56% and 8-14% of theory for voltage measurements across different components in RC, RL and RLC circuits. The document also includes questions about the phase relationships between circuit components and applying Kirchhoff's voltage law to analyze the circuits.

Questions
1. What is the phase relationship between R, L, and C components in a series AC
circuit?

2. Based on measurements, does Kirchhoffs Voltage Law apply to the three

tested circuits (show work)?
Xc =1/wC = 1600i ohm

w = 2 f f= 10kHz

XL= wL =628i ohm

R =1k ohm
Z=

R + ( X LXc )
2

=1.387 k in RLC circuit

I = V/Z = 1 /1.387 k = 0.72 mA in RLC circuit

3. In general, how would the phasor diagram of Figure 6.1 change if the
frequency was raised?
-

If the frequency was raised, capacitive reactance will be decreasing.

4- In general, how would the phasor diagram of Figure 6.2 change if the
frequency was lowered?
-

If the frequency was lowered inductive reactance will be decreasing.
