Remedial action: Drip line replaced


6. Observations: Set tripped on vacuum very low. Following indications /relays operated. 1. TLR
operated. 2.GCB tripped. 3.MFT operated. 4 Inst Air compressor- A tripped. 5.Master trip relay 80GT
operated. 5.Generator main breaker tripped.
7.Remedial action. Shutdown extended to carry out both ID Fans repairing & balancing & CW-4
pump discharge line leakages & to attend other shutdown defects as unit was continuously
running for 133 days since 14/11/08.
8. Root cause analysis in details: TBC CT B phase at GCR Burst resulting in Bus bar differential
protection and tripping of station transformer No 1. Due to tripping of station transformer supply inst
& service air compressors tripped & hence Air pressure became low resulting in closing of TAS-5 valve,
because of this ejector pressure became low & set tripped on vacuum very low
9. Preventive action suggested :
Short term Air lock relay will be fitted to TAS-5 in next shutdown so that in case of air supply failure valve
will got lock in same position.
