Rethinking Cecil B.

Moore Avenue Front to 6th Street

As properties along Cecil B. Moore Avenue in South Kensington shift from primarily industrial
to mixed-used, the street should be redesigned to accommodate this change.
Current:

Cecil B. Moore Avenue is currently a 27 foot wide two- way street. There are no marked lanes or
legal street parking, cars are routinely parked on the sidewalk.

Proposed:

Cecil B. Moore could shift to a one-way street between Front and 6th Street, extending the one-way
that already exists between Frankford Avenue and Front Street. This would allow space for a 5 foot
wide bike lane on the north side, a 9 foot wide parking lane on the south side and a 13 foot wide
driving lane in the middle. This serves to increase parking, ease of bicycling and calming the street in
a way compatible with Philadelphias Complete Streets program. This would not disrupt any public
transit as the 3 Bus travels on (two-way) Berks Street between 6th and Front.
