Mini project (30%)

CLB 40002 Engineering Technologist in Society


September 2015
This mini project is focusing on the concept of contributing your
engineering technology knowledge through some activities and
programmes. These programmes vary according to the objectives and
prospects. Thus, each group should organize one of the chosen activities
or programmes; the evaluations are based on the following aspects:
1. Proposal & Planning (Total: 30%)
Activity/Programme/Project
o General description of the programme
o Objectives of the programme
o Advantages of the programme to MICET, organizer and
participants
o Target visit date and premises location
o Facilities (if any)
o Contact person (if any)
Organization communities
o Task description of community members
o Number of participants
o List of activities
o Financial sources (if any)
Report writing
o Proposal & Planning Report (word format)
2. Implementation & Final Report (Total: 70%)
During implementation stage, the community members MUST
have a site visit:
o Set visit date/make an appointment
o Set of interviews questions
o Pictures of owners, premises, processes, products etc
o Appreciation & token given

LIST OF ACTIVITIES AND DESCRIPTIONS ~ EXAMPLES

Any activity/project/programme
of your choice!
The team needs to design any related/relevant programme which
can be considered as part of chemical engineering technologist
contributions to the society. The projects are based on FOUR (4)
clusters as below:
1. Ordinary traditional food manufacturing,
2. Traditional non-food manufacturing (eg. Hand-craft etc)
3. Agricultural based activity and
4. Small Medium Industry (SMI) ~ manufacturing based
activity
Few examples as guides:
a. Food Technologist improvement of Belacan production etc.
b. Polymer Technologist improvement of food packaging etc
c. Environment Technologist counter measures on water pollution
of Sungai Alor Gajah etc
d. Bioprocess Technologist improvement of Tapai Ubi production
etc
e. Chemical Technologist any related process which can cover all
process improvement activities.

Special Notes:
1. Each group can nominate ONE (1) advisor cum supervisor among
lecturers and these programmes are under SCB (Student Character
Building).
