ABSTRACT
A very large percentage of communication is done through nonverbal. In non
verbal communication human face place major key role. To recognize human facial
expressions like happy, anger, sad, digest etc an automated facial expression recognition
system is needed.
In the existing system they have been used Principle component analysis, gobar
wavelet transforms, Independent component analysis, local feature analysis to track the
facial features and for classification they used Support vector machine, AdaBoost
classifier algorithms.
. In the proposed approach, video is divided into frames, from frames we will
detect face and from the detected face we will extract the features .These features are
passed to the facial action coding system to determine facial expression.
Facial Action coding system was proposed by Ekman and Friesen. FACS is a
research tool which is used for measuring the human facial expression through facial
movements, which are called as action units. For example if inner browser is raised called
action unit1, if the corners of lips are pulled down called as Action unit 15.
