STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The team with the best players wins - Jack Welch


I believe, to achieve great heights, a company relies on its employees. For the
success of a company its important that these employees work as a team. The
companies that have been successful have had the best minds working for them
as a team.
I am a final year engineering student. Throughout my school and college life, I
have finely balanced my academic and extracurricular activities. As a result, i
have managed to be in the top 10 of my class throughout, and also won many
awards in various sports and creative events in school and college.
During 4 years of my engineering along with consistently performing in
academics I have also been an active member of ISA (International Society of
Automation) students' Section. During first two years I volunteered and coordinated for various events under ISA's banner. During the third year I served as
the secretary of ISA Students' Section. Under this, we organised an annual
flagship event "TECHNOFORA", which is national level technical symposium.
While organizing Technofora I realized that organizing an event and organizing a
national symposium are entirely different experiences. In a symposium there are
multiple events going on simultaneously on the same day and one has to make
sure he is there in designing and implementation of all the events with his
guidance. One always needs suggestions and should work as a team. Only then a
symposium can achieve success.
I learned a lot while serving as a part of main organising committee. Interaction
with people from various fields and personalities, visiting different places for
work purpose, getting the work done in time, distributing the work among subordinates, to handle things at the time of crisis, to make sure there are people
who are willing to work, are some of them.
After having the experience of Technofora I realized that i had it in me to
combine my technical knowledge with my managerial skills to be the kind of
manager/team player that would fit the definition of best by Jack Welch.
NMIMS being one of the top b-schools of India has all the ingredients to produce
great managers. It not only provides its students with the textbook knowledge
but also makes sure that the students experience the corporate world. It also
prepares students for international career. Its belief in going beyond the average
and extending to excel and win on all accounts is what leads to the making of
winners in the two years of the course.
