From the error message you posted, the error occurred on "Database Engine Servic

es", "SQL Server Replication", "Full-Text Search" and "Reporting Services". Othe
r components are passed.
Since the logs you posted are the general message, could you please help to post
the detailed error message from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup
Bootstrap\Log\20100816_145006\Detail.txt? This would help us to troubleshoot th
e issue.
Currently, I would suggest you following these steps to fix the issue:
Remove all SQL Server components from 'Programs and Features'
Backup the registry
Delete the following keys in regedit:
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server
--HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall an
d delete all the sub-keys referencing SQL Server
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and delete all the ke
ys referencing SQL Server
Rename all the SQL Server folders in the computer
Reboot the machine
Install SQL Server 2008 R2 again
