APPOWS2010 - NOW INCLUDES SP-1 FILES
[ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR FILES FIRST!]
Welcome to your appows environment. Clean minimal, functional and
customizable to suit your personal tastes & needs. Please make sure to read
through in order to achieve maximum use of the suite.
There are many variations available to you. Please do not ask for requests
for more font version until there is an easier way to substitute font options in
the next build of VistaStyleBuilder.
Appows '01' default versions include a big taskbar and to be used with small
taskbar icons under taskbar and startmenu properties.
the '02' versions are a regular small or big taskbar option.
There are a few theme icons in the Theme\Appows Wallpaper + Icons folder
that if you wish to change you can or just delete them if you don't wish to use
them. I've included a blank iconpackage theme for iconpackager v5 to use as
a starting canvas to add you own icons.
APPOWSMODS
In the theme directory is a pack of mods for much of the Appows themes.
If you wish to use them just replace the .msstyle file to the appropriate theme
directory and overwrite the default .mstyle file in that directory. Some
example mods are font choices, Borderless (see below), Combined Taskbar,
No search box, etc. Play around and see which one suits your tastes.

WARNING: the HideBlur Tool is NOT compatible with
CloseButtonChanger
VISUAL STYLES FOR WINDOWS 7
You need to patch your system files in order to use custom visual styles, an
easy way and the tool I use which supports Windows 7 is
VistaGlazz http://www.codegazer.com/vistaglazz/downloads/
Place the files found in the Theme folder into your
x:\Windows\Resources\Themes directory. Included is an alternate
shellstyle.dll in the Alternative Shellstyle - Folder Pane folder for
those who prefer to use the folder pane.
Thanks to http://satukoro.deviantart.com/ for his Universal shellstyle.dll
SYSTEM FILES
These are not required to use the included themes but are included for your
convenience to provide an overall system make over.
Use these at your own risk and if you are familiar/comfortable with replacing
system files. I will not be responsible for a botched install.
*REMEMBER TO ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES FIRST!
CAPTION BUTTON SHIFT
To shift the caption buttons to the right you will need to download and use
this nifty little app from AndreasV of VistaStyleBuilder which is currently a
work in progress.
CloseButtonChanger http://vistastylebuilder.com/forum/index.php?
action=dlattach;topic=706.0;attach=185 (NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE HIDE
BLUR TOOL)
Unfortunately for know it will have to be rerun at each system startup. Run
the CloseButtonChanger.exe according to your build (32 or 64 bit) type in
1.777777 for Lite, Nite and Peek and press enter, also you can experiment to
suit your tastes. You can now exit the program. Your caption buttons will
magically shift to the right! :-D
EXPLORERFRAME.DLL
You need to take the ownership of the file for modifications. Follow
the steps given in the below article:
http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownershipto-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/
After taking ownership of the file, backup your original rename it and
then replace it with the new modded version.
START BUTTONS
I've provided icons and the .bmps so that you can change the startbuttons
accordingly to your preferences.
Can be used in conjuction with Kishan-Bagaria's Windows "7 Start Orb
Changer"
http://www.door2windows.com/windows-7-start-button-changer-change-yourwindows-7-start-button-with-one-click/
Much love and work went into this, please no mods without permission.
