The document provides an explanation and examples of using the structure "HAVE + OBJECT + PARTICIPLE" to describe situations where someone causes an action to happen by asking or paying someone else to do it, but is not the direct author of the action. The structure is used to indicate an action that happened or will happen in the past or future without directly mentioning who performed the action, since they are not the primary subject. Several examples are given to illustrate how to use this structure.

When someone is not the author of the
action but caused it to happen by asking
or paying someone to do it, we use the structure below: HAVE + OBJECT + PARTICIPLE The verb to have is used in any tense, according to when the action took place. The main verb (that represents the action) is used in the participle. We dont mention the author of the action, either because its obvious or because its irrelevant.
Situation 1: Mary washed the car on Sunday.
As you can see, Mary herself washed the car. She is the author of the action.
Situation 2: Mary had the car washed.
As you can see, Mary neither washed the car nor is the author of the action, but she caused the action to happen, either asking or paying for it.
