Magic: A Life Choice

Card Types
Artifact: Can be a creature or land.
Usually colorless.
Creature: A creature that can defend
or attack. Has a power and
toughness. Comes in all colors.
Enchantment: A permanent that
never needs to be tapped. Theyre
colored card.
Instant: Nonpermanent/trap card.
Can be played in either players turn.

Lea Thompson

Land: A permanent that can be


played once per players turn on
his/her turn.
Planeswalker: A permanent with
loyalty counters. It has 3 or 4
abilities that can be activated during
that players turn. One ability per
turn.
Tribal: Allows card types that arent
creatures to have creature types.
Sorcery: A nonpermanent card that
acts like an instant, but can only be
used on a players turn.

Standard
Only allowed to use the two most

recently released blocks as well as


the current core set.

Minimum of 60 cards, this is


preferred. No maximum deck size,
as long as there is no assistance in
shuffling.

Up to 15 cards in your sideboard.

No more then 4 similar cards in a


deck with the exception of land
cards.

Commander
Format

Players start with 40 life

Every card, except for lands, has to


have a different name

A legendary creature is the


commander of the deck

There has to be 99 other cards with


colors relating to your commander

Commander gets put into the


command zone before the game
starts

Every time the commander is played


from the command zone it costs 2
more to play

Planeswalkers

Lea Thompson

Powerful mages who can travel across


the planes of existence.

They need to ignite their spark to be


able to channel the powers of
becoming a planeswalker.

Planeswalkers can also use Blind


Eternities to channel more power.

They dedicate themselves to a personal


mission, doesnt matter what it is.

They represent all colors from the


guilds.

They can be used in play, but they cant


be used as a creature.

Their life is calculated by loyalty


points, which varies upon each
planeswalker.

Guild Colors
White: comes from plains,
meadows, savannahs.
Stands for Law, Order,
and Structure in MTG.
Blue: comes from deep sea,
and endless skies.

The characters in this


guild stands for deceit,
logic, and illusion.

Black: comes from swamps.

They stand for death,


fear, and amorality.

Guild Colors
Red: comes from
mountains, crags, and
volcanos.
Red stands for fury,
and passion.
Green: comes from
nature such as trees.
Stands for Growth,
Life, and Brute
force.

Multi-colored
Guilds

Lea Thompson

Rakdos Cult: leadership of a


powerful demon. Consists of
hedonist, sadist, criminals, and
psychopaths.

Golgari Swarm: Consists of zombies,


elves, insects, and undead/plant
hybrids. Fuses opposite values of life
and death.

Boros Legion: Most formidable


military out for fierce justice, and
righteous law.

House Dimir: Provides covert


services other guilds wont. A hidden
guild.

Izzet League: Consists of obsessive


experimenters. Meant to provide
solutions for the city. Led by the
dragon Niv-Mizzet.
