Respect your fellow students

Respect this classroom
Respect the areas that are off limits
Respect other peoples artwork
Do not deface school property
No food without permission; drinks must have lid
CELL PHONES, MP3 PLAYERS, AND BACKPACKS WILL NOT BE
PERMITTED IN CLASS WITHOUT EXPRESSED PERMISSION

Many people have worked very hard to make your creative environment an
attractive one. It is expected that you will respect this classroom and its
equipment, furniture and all artwork displayed in it. Please do not write on
the desks, walls or chairs!! Any damage will be considered an infraction of
school rules and those involved will be punished accordingly.
Please be courteous to me and to your classmates by not interrupting or
speaking out of turn. When I ask for your attention, I expect it.
Because of the nature of the classroom and the chemicals sometimes used in
class, there will be no food allowed in class without specific approval. All
drinks must have a lid.

You will be graded on participation daily (4 points a day, or 20 points a

week)
Keep working until it is time to clean up
Passes are for emergencies only!!
Please stay in your seat until the bell rings for dismissal

Classroom Procedures
The following procedures need to be observed to allow for a rewarding,
enriching, and creative experience.
All students will be given a daily grade based on the following: working on
your assignments until the end of class, cleaning up after finishing, and
behaving appropriately. If these expectations are not met, not only will your
grade suffer, a phone call may be made to your parent or guardian, and
possibly an administration.
o All students are expected to work in class until it is time to clean up for the
day, which will be 5 minutes before the end of class (unless otherwise
directed by me). You must remain in your seats to be dismissed as a class. Do
not get up and line up at the door!!
o I understand life can be busy and there may be times when you may fall
behind. For this reason I will allow extensions on a case-by-case basis. Please
use your class time wisely because the possibility of an extension on late
work is in no way a guarantee.
o Each student will be allowed 8 passes per grading period. Use your passes
wisely because when you run out you will not be issued more.
o ARTWORK FEE: There is a $15.00 artwork fee for ART 1, or a $20.00 artwork
fee for all other art classes, students must pay each semester in order to keep
the artwork created in this course. These funds are used to purchase supplies
for future projects and they are crucial for the art department. This can be
cash or a check made out to Owosso High School and is due on the first day
of each semester. This lab fee allows students to use better quality paper,
paint, chalks, and tools. These materials give better results, last longer, and
foster professional attitude toward individual student artwork.
o

Extra credit will be offered from time to time. (Please take advantage of these
opportunities. I do award an A+ when it is earned.)

I understand and accept the above rules and procedures.
