Designfolder

The document outlines a student's design project to create a virtual website or online application to present their hobbies and personal life to classmates. It provides guidance on the design process, including inquiring and analyzing the problem, developing potential ideas, selecting a final design, and creating the solution. The student's chosen design is to create a website using Weebly to share videos, photos, and essays about their interests and daily activities.

Design Cycle

The design cycle model represents the MYP design methodology of how designers develop
products. The process is divided into four stages: inquiring and analysing developing ideas
creatingthesolutionevaluating.

This incremental process allows the designer to go from identifying a design opportunity to the
testing and evaluation of a solution. This process leads to the creation of solutionsthatsolvea
problem.

It is important to note that, while the design cycle includes several successive stages, the
design cycle is an iterative and cyclical process. Solving designproblemsisnotalwaysalinear
process.

A.3 Analyse a range of existing products

Looking at similar products is a useful form of research. You can learn quickly about the
different methods and techniques used to solve a problem similar to yourown. This leavesyou

A.4 Design brief

The
design brief
is the formal starting point of the design, states the expectations and
design problem. In your Design Brief, you will need to
summarize your problem
(what the
problem is) and its
relevance to our community
, your
proposed solution
(how you are
going to solve it) and
why you think it is a good solution
.
You should present this information in your own words and always start the design brief
with I am going to design and make ...... This is followed by a general description of the
type of solution you feel will answer the design problem.

B.2 Feasible design ideas

Develop and present a range of feasible design ideas, using an appropriate medium(s) and

annotation, which can be interpreted by others. You can develop each design idea with a

SECTION C: Creating the solution

(Assessment Criterion C)

C.1 Construct a logical plan

One of the key skills in design is the ability to plan and to use time and resources effectively.
You should construct a logical plan, which describes the efficient use of time and resources,
sufficientforpeerstobeabletofollowtocreatethesolution.

Think of it as an instruction manual for creating your product/solution. Account for resources
youwilluse,includingatimelineforthecompletionofeachtask.
