Journal 2 - Capture An Event

Exercise in Photoshop. The event I chose to capture was that of a barrista
preparing a drink. I chose this because the figure is moving through space,
as well as preforming a task. The space behind the counter provides setting
and the task provides movement. This exercise implemented transparency,
accurate selection and overall layout.

Exercise in Photoshop. Cleaned images of

previous semesters lighting and prosthesis
project. This exercise was really an exercise
in restraint for me, because
over-manipulating these could have made
them look muddied or distracting. Photo
manipulation is a delicate process, which
this exercise helped me to understand

Exercise in Grasshopper. This
project challenged us not in
the technical manipulation of
the program, but our
Visualization skills. Beginning
with a recipe, we took the
steps in the recipe and
Visualized them as elements
in grasshopper. This exercise
familiarized me with the
program while also
developing diagramming

Journal 4 - Parametric
Image Translation
Exercise in Rhino and Grasshopper. In order to
understand the other applications of rhino and
Grasshopper other than 3 dimensional modeling, this
image was developed. Points in Rhino were translated
into grasshopper which produced the image. The image
was then rendered in Rhino.

Exercise in Rhino and Adobe Illustrator. This exercise challenged us to

simplify a picture down to its lines and retain its impact visually.
beginning with points and lines in Rhino the lines were transferred into
Illustrator where line weight was altered and color added.

Exercise In Photoshop. Based off the movie

V for Vendetta, this exercise analyzed the
plot of the move and visualized the main
concept as an image. I chose to show the
titular V and the other characters that he
is comprised of, Edmond Dantes, Zorro,
Guy Fawkes and Zorro. This collage was
created in Photoshop through layers, filters
and selection.

Exercise in Rhino and Revit. As an addition to the Revit project, a door, door
handle and Revit file were created. Modeling was done in rhino then imported into Revit where the door was created. In order to fit with the insect
theme for the rest of my project, hexagons were used in detailing. The result
is a functional Revit door family, and a demonstration of modeling abilities.

Exercise in Photoshop. In order to demonstrate the amount of time spent in

programs during IAPD 410, an infographic was developed. I chose to focus on
the disparity between time spent in each program by scaling planets for each
program. This graphic was created with the help of layering, background removal
and transparencies.

Exercise with Weebly. In order to organize classwork for IAPD 410 a website
was developed. This exercise was my first challenge for developing something
visually. I decided to go with a space theme that carried through a couple
other projects. This exercised implemented graphic design as well as
technical ability.

Sketch Up - A
Exercise in Sketch Up. This project introduced the 3-Dimensional modeling
software as well as the ability to design something functional for children to
play on. Some aspects of this project included modeling, rendering, and diagram
development. Components that were developed include a climbing gym, small
slides, and a puzzle/climbing structure combo.

Exercise in Sketch Up. As a secondary part of the Sketch Up assignment, I
created this refrigerator magnet of a dog. Starting with 2 images of the subject
and pushing and pulling the line segments in Sketch Up I modeled this. This
design was then submitted to Pinshape for a contest.

Exercise in Rhino. The challenge was to develop a staircase and its related
drawings for a specific space. I chose to create a parallelogram tread with a
double run stair. This exercise enhanced my 3-D modeling skills as well as
my ability to develop diagrams from Rhino

Exercise in Auto CAD. This project took the elements developed in the sketch up project and
inserted them into Auto CAD where diagrams of
them were made using the various functions of the
program. As a secondary part I measured and drew
a chair from my house. Then I divided the geometry of the chair and represented it though Auto
CAD. This project allowed for me to
Develop my Auto CAD skills and understand its
applications.

Exercise in Rhino and 3DS Max. This second part of the Rhino project
took the stairs previously created and inserted them into a space. Also,
a Serpentine wall was developed using Rhino and Grasshopper and
placed into the space. Then Rendering was executed in 3DS Max. This
exercise enhanced my rendering abilities and my understanding of 3DS
Max.

Exercise in Rhino and 3DS Max. This exercise challenged me to create an
Animated version of my Revit Robot. I both animated the wings flapping
and the robot moving though space. The full animation was created in 3DS
Max and with help from photo shop. You can View it at

Exercise in Rhino and Revit. In order to understand the technical applications

of Revit I developed a Pollen Redistributing Bee robot and its cockpit.
Elevations and sections, as well as diagrams were developed of the robot. The
robot and its cockpit were both rendered. This project helped me extend my
skills with Revit and taught me more about families.
