WiMAX provides high-speed wireless internet access anywhere through fixed and mobile broadband services over large areas. It has two flavors - Fixed WiMAX is suited for delivering last mile wireless access similar to DSL or cable, while Mobile WiMAX supports both fixed and mobile applications with improved performance and capacity plus full mobility. WiMAX appeals to new entrants, wireline, cable, satellite and wireless providers as it is IP-based and offers significantly faster speeds, throughput and capacity than current wireless networks.

WiMAX Solution

Internet at home. Internet at the office. Internet on the go. Internet everywhere! -- That's the
promise of WiMAX.
WiMAX (Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access) is an exciting new technology that delivers
high-speed access wirelessly, enabling fixed and mobile broadband services over large coverage
areas. Because it is an IP-based system and delivers significant improvements in speed, throughput
and capacity over current wireless networks, it appeals to new entrants, wireline, cable, satellite and
wireless service providers alike.
WiMAX comes in two flavors: Fixed and Mobile.

Fixed WiMAX, based on IEEE 802.16-2004 standard, is ideally suited for delivering wireless
last mile access for fixed broadband services, similar to DSL or cable modem service.
Mobile WiMAX, based on IEEE 802.16-2005 standard, supports both fixed and mobile
applications with improved performance and capacity while adding full mobility.
