A.C Circuits Resistor, Inductor & Capacitor in A.C Unsolved
This document contains 5 practice problems involving AC circuits with resistors, inductors, and capacitors. The problems calculate values like circuit current, phase angle, impedance, reactance, resistance, and power factor given information about voltage sources, component values, and voltage and current measurements in the circuits. Solving these types of problems requires applying the concepts of impedance, reactance, phase relationships between voltage and current, and power calculations for AC circuits.

Q.) A coil having a resistance of 7 and an inductance of 31mH is
connected to a 230V, 50Hz supply. Calculate i) circuit current, ii) phase angle, iii) power factor, and iv) power consumed.
Q.) An emf of 50V, 50Hz is applied to an impedance 1 = (12.5 +
j25). An impedance Z2 is added in series with Z1, the current becomes half of the original, and leads it by 140. Determine Z2.
Q.) A current of 5A flows through a non-inductive resistance in
series with a choking coil supplied at 250V, 50c/sec. If the voltage across the resistance is 120V and across the coil 210V, calculate 1) Impedance, reactance and resistance of the coil. 2) Power factor of the coil.
Q.) When a resistance and coil in series are connected to a 200V
supply, current of 3A flows lagging 300 behind the supply voltage, while the voltage across the coil is 160V. Find the resistance of resistor, reactance of the coil.
Q.) A resistance R and inductance L=0.05H and a capacitance C
are connected in series. When a voltage v=400sin(300t - 90)V is applied to the series combination, the current flowing is 10 2 cos(300t-540)A. Find R.
