Beginning fall 2008, the Q denotes a dropped course. DP, DF, DS & DU
no longer apply to dropped courses.
REMEDIAL GRADES:
Remedial Grades: DVA, DVB, DVC, DVD and DVF are grade symbols
appearing on the academic transcript to indicate remedial courses only.
Beginning Fall 2014, remedial grades calculate into the grade point
average. A grade of DVC (RC) or better is required in a remedial course.
Prior to Fall 2014, grades of RA, RB, RC, RD and RF did not count in the
grade point average.
CORRESPONDENCE GRADES:
Grades for correspondence courses prior to 2006 are recorded as CA,
CB, CC, CD or CF. These courses counted towards earned hours but
were not calculated in the grade point average. Correspondence courses
taken after 2006 count in both the grade point average and earned hours.
* Prior to the fall semester of 1967 TAMU-C used a 3.0 grade system. Beginning with the Fall semester
of 1967 however, the university converted to the 4.0 scale illustrated above.
ACADEMIC DISTINCTION:
Academic Distinction is calculated on all work earned during the students
college career, including transfer work. The level of distinction is
determined by the students cumulative grade point average and A&MCommerce grade point average, whichever is lower. The levels of
distinction are as follows: Summa Cum Laude, 3.90-4.00; Magna Cum
Laude, 3.70-3.89; Cum Laude 3.50-3.69.
ACADEMIC STANDING:
A student is eligible to continue or return unless an academic message
appears on the record to the contrary. A student is in good standing
unless the message appears on the record indicating probation or
suspension.
COURSE NUMBERING:
Courses which are undergraduate but approved for graduate credit will
be listed on a graduate transcript followed by the words For Graduate
Credit.
