WhenIfirstsignedupforthisclassIwasnottoosureofwhatIwasgoingtotakeaway
fromthisexperience.InthebeginningIwantedtotakethisclassforsomeknowledgeaboutself
defenseandextraexerciseIcoulddointhesummer.Thefirstdayofclasswasnottoodaunting
anditgaveoffafriendlyatmosphereandgottomeetsomeinterestingpeople.Afewclassespass

LaterwestartimplementingsomepreexercisestretcheswhichIstilldouseoutsideof
class.OutofallthetechniquesweuseinclassthesetImainlyuseonadailybasisisthewrist
stretchesbecauseIhaveweakwristsandthishelpsalleviatessomeofthepainIsometimeshave
throughouttheday.
Asthemonthsprogresseswelearnlotsoftechniquesthatcanbeutilizedindifferent
circumstanceslikewithanattackergoingforkosaorkatatedoriorstrikeslikemunetsuki(chest
strike),yokomenuchi(striketothetemple),andshomenuchi(striketothetopofthehead).Even
thenthereareafewwaysofhandlingeachscenarioaswithgrabsyoucandothetechniquein

omote(frontside)orura(backside)andwiththestrikesyoucanprettymuchhandlewith
minimalcontactifdoneright,orcanbeavoidedoutrightbyshiftingalittlebitorbyperforming
atenkan.
Thelastweekofclassoneofthefinaltechniqueswelearnedwasthrowingmultiple
attackerswhichwasinterestingandthenwewentthroughthedifferentkindsofweaponsthatare
usedinaikidowhichisajo(staff)andatanto(knife)althoughwedidnotreallydoanything
withthejoasidefromademonstrationwhichwascoolwemainlylearnedsometantotechniques
likehowtoholditwhileperformingthestrikesandknifedefencewhichkindaendedupbeing
oneofthesidethingsIhadhopedtolearnwhiletakingthisclassadmittingly.Finallywehadour
finaltestwhichIwashappywiththeresultof,andthefinalactivitywhichwasfendingoff
multipleattackerswhichwasreallyfunandIpersonallyhadmorefunjustavoidingthemthen
thetrytoperformatechniquewelearnedinclassbecause,wellitwassimplerandendedup
beingmorefastpaced.IntheendIwouldnotmindtrytakingthisclassorahigherversionof
thisclassagaininthefuture.
