This document provides a summary of a lecture on word stress in complex or compound words. It discusses the placement of primary and secondary stress in compound words composed of two nouns, a gerund and noun, an adjective and 'ed' morpheme, an adjective and gerund. It also covers stress patterns for compounds with a number as the first element, compounds functioning as adverbs or verbs, and phrasal verbs. Students are given transcription exercises to practice identifying and marking stress in example compound words.
