Distributed Learning

Distributed learning (DL) is a method of instruction that relies on indirect communication between students and teachers through electronic delivery or teleconferencing. DL allows BC residents to learn from a distance and provides flexibility for students who need to start school outside normal timetables or continue their studies while travelling or working. There are many distributed learning schools in BC that offer a full range of kindergarten through grade 12 courses and have signed agreements to ensure quality.

Distributed Learning (DL) is a method of instruction that relies primarily on indirect

communication between students and teachers, including internet or other electronicbased delivery, teleconferencing, or correspondence. DL is a choice for BC residents who
need or want to learn at a distance from a school.
DL students

can start school throughout the calendar year

have access to learning opportunities outside conventional school timetables

may be working adults with other responsibilities

may be travelling but want to continue their studies

Distributed Learning

provides courses for students who cannot access the courses they need in their school

offers a full range of courses from Kindergarten to Grade 12

uses engaging teaching practices

provides flexibility to learn at an individual pace

There are many distributed learning schools in BC. They have all signed an agreement
with the Ministry of Education that ensures their commitment to quality. Any school-aged
student or non-graduated adult, who is a resident of BC or temporarily out of the
province, can take distributed learning courses at no cost. If youd like to know more
about the courses offered in BC, check out the Course Finder.
To find out more about the services you should be receiving as part of distributed
