The final measurements will also be consolidated and the quantities arrived will also be notified to client. “DETAILED METHODOLOGY, CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE, CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT PLANNING AND DEPLOYMENT. ‘ WILL BE SUBMITTED AFTER AWARD OF CONTRACT” — eee Page 4 of 4PROCESS OF FABRICATION OF GRP PIPES {The basic raw material used in the GRP pipe manufacturing are resin, fiber glass and silica sand, ‘Taking advantage of the winding process, other materials such as a glass veil or polyester veil can be used to enhance the abrasion resistance and the finishing of the pipe. The Hydraulic characteristics of Fiber Glass Pipe include: ‘The Smooth intetior results in low fluid resistance, which could lower horsepower cont nanents for pumped systems. This characteristic could contribute to a subsiontial cost savings over the life of a typical piping system, The interior pipe surface typically remains smooth over time in most fluid services. Therefore, fluid resistance does not increase with age, ‘The smooth interior allows the pipe diameter to be reduced while ‘maintaining the desired flow, Inside diameter (ID) is typically larger than IDs of many other pipe materials of the same nominal size and provides a larger pathway for fluid flow. More detailed information about many other quality characteristics such as: Long - term ring bending; Hydro testing; Surge and water hammer; Load capacity values (stiffness); Hoop tensile load capacity; Axial tensile load capacity; Flow velocity Ultra violet resistance; Flow coefficients; Portability test for smell, clarity of extract and globe migration‘Transportation For the transportation of GRP Pipes from the Factory to the Site. trailers are needed, Similarly for lowering of the pipes 10-20 Ton Mobile Crane will be provided at the pipe laying location, For disposal of surplus earth, Hydraulic Tippers of 10 T capacity will be provided. Approx. 2 Tippers per Excavator will be provided depending upon the location of disposal area from the pipeline route. It shall be ensured that the pipes being transported do not over hang on the vehicles. Large pipes shall be placed on cradles and the loads properly secured during transit. Wide non-abrasive or other approved. slings shall be used and all other hooks and other ( metal devices shall be well‘ padded. Under no circumstances shall pipes, be dropped be allowed to strike one another, be rolled freely or dragged along the ground, No valves shall be lifted by the spindle. Fabricated material such as manhole covers, appurtenances, bolts, nuts, flanges, saddles, collars é& bypass arrangements etc,, shall be transported to the site of laying from the fabrication yard according to needs of the laying, operations only. Trenching The total pipe length will have to be laid in Trenches as per estimated time of 15 months. With 85% efficiency, the daily output will be upto about 7 to 9 pipes, adequate arrangement for excavation of hard strata is proposed to be carried out simultaneously. ‘The width of the tench shall be kept to a minimum consistent with the working space required and having regard to the safety of the trench, Depth of excavation shall be strictly controlled. ( All trenches shall have safety norms for all persons working in the trench if required. Temporary marking shall be done around all open excavations and post warning signs in English and focal language shall be displayed. ‘The maximum length of excavation which shail be left open in any length is 500 m at one location, Laying and Jointing A detailed programme for manufacturing and laying of pipeline will be prepared in consultation with ssnnl officials keeping in mind the mile stones given in the tender document. Before laying the pipes a survey of pipeline route shall be undertaken so as to compare this with the survey supplied at the time of the tender. Level shall be taken At required intervals and at any sharp changes in level. At least 28 days b any discrepancies observed shall be informed to the cfgPipes shall be laid in accordance with 1S. ‘The pipetine shall be constructed in lengths suitable a full time pipe laying gang shall be engaged with each length of the pipe. Pipes and fittings shall be lowered into the trench/ pedestals with crane, The pipe shall be lowered in trenches as per required line and levels. Care shall be taken that the longitudinal joints of two consecutive pipes are staggered by 90°, While assembling, the pipes shall be brought close enough to leave a uniform gap of not exceeding 4 mm. ‘There shall be no lateral displacement in the pipe faces to be joined, PIPE JOINTS: Typically joined using GRP coupling, Pipes and Couplings supplied separately or with the coupling mounted at one end. Fit with elastomeric sealings Gasket which exactly sits in precision - machined groove including a stopper at each end, Other possible jointing systems are laminated and flanged connections. The pipe laying team shall be capable of handling a peak workload of 8 pipes per day, and an average workload of 7 to 9 pipes per day. Erection of Valves and Fittings The Butterfly Valves, Sluice Valves and Flange Adapters, Companion Flanges, Air Valves etc. shall be as per BMC Specification mentioned in NIT. The erection of valves shall be synchronous to the laying of pipes. Adequate care shall be taken during handling, of the valves. Valves shall not be lifted by the spindles, Hydraulic Testing of the Pipeline Pipeline and fittings shall be hydraulically pressure tested and shall comply to IS, ‘Tests. shall be carried out in two stages. 1, Test of sections as construction proceeds adjusting to Coupling. 2. A test of the whole pipeline on completion. of Bidder() .
