Course Description
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) is huge in education. These careers are heavily stressed because of
the high need for workers in these fields. FIRST Robotics is a program that helps prepare for students for these pathways using real
world skillsets. In this class, students will learn many of the skillsets that they need to be successful in FIRST. This is a co-curricular
course. Students who in the class are also part of the FIRST Robotics Competition program. Students are required to assist with the
FTC team, attend Kick-off, and compete at the two District Competitions. This course is aligned with the ISTE Standards for Students,
ISTE Standards for Computer Science Educators, and the Michigan Technology Plan.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate best safety practices.

Create a program that can utilize input/output functions, pass conditionals, and implement loops.
Program a robot to be able to perform simple tasks.
Create an animation.
Understand and construct objects using design tools.
Create a webpage.

Apply multimedia editing techniques.

Create documents, flyers, and multimedia artifacts.
Write a basic business plan.
Understand and construct applications of wiring and pneumatics.

Course Standards
By the end of the course, students will have met the following standards outlined by the Michigan Technology Plan.
