North Myrtle Beach Volleyball

(2015-2016)
Player Handbook

We are so excited for this upcoming volleyball season. The North Myrtle Beach
Lady Chiefs were state champions in 2012 season, Runner up in the state the
2013 season, and we are looking forward to continuing a trend of a winning
program. We will practice accordingly; pushing every day to be the best we can
be. Make sure you have your priorities in order. To be a successful program, you
have to have your priorities in order. Your priorities should go as follows:
-Higher Power
-Family
-Academics
-Volleyball
-Social Life
To push yourself to be the best you can be, your priorities should go this way.
Volleyball should be very important to you but also not the most important thing
in your life. The coaches are here to help you become better volleyball players but
also professional young ladies prepared for life after high school. We are so
excited to get this season started

Rules (Players)
Missing any practice during season unexcused will result in you having to sit
out (1) the upcoming volleyball game. Missing 3 unexcused or more
practices during season will result in removal from the team.
(These are considered unexcused practices: orthodontist appoinments,
haircuts, dermatologists, drivers ed, no ride, eye doctor, etc. Please make
these appointments around practice times)
If you know of a practice you are going to miss, a coach needs to be notified
at least 24 hours in advance before that practice occurs.
All absences from practices are unexcused unless it is a medical reason OR
family emergency. If you have a school related function you have to go to
for your grade, please have the teacher email your coach in advance.
Attending summer practices and workouts are crucial to your placement on
a team. Commitment is key; take family vacations accordingly.
Arriving late to practice and/or class will not be tolerated. I understand
emergencies happen such as car trouble, but you must call a coach and
notify them. Being late to practice will result in extra practice and/or
workouts. Tardiness will not be tolerated.
The use of alcohol and/or drugs will not be tolerated. 1st offense is out for
half of your season. 2nd offense is the entire season and complete removal
from the program.
SOCIAL NETWORKING should be monitored. If disrespect toward school,
coaches, players, teachers, and administration is posted on social networks,
it will result in dismissal in the upcoming volleyball game (1). Pictures and
remarks of partying where alcohol and/or drugs are involved will result in
the first offense use of drugs and alcohol (removal for half the season).
Second time either occurs will be removed from the program.
The use of profanity towards a coach, player, teacher, or administrator
during a practice/game will result in removal from the upcoming volleyball
game. 2nd time will result in meeting with Principal, Athletic Director,
Coach, and parents and possible removal from program.

Grades must maintain a C average or better. If a grade drops below a C,

staying after for extra help with teachers (tutor) will be required until grade
gets pulled back up. If grade continues to drop, you could be temporarily
dismissed from practices and/or games until the grade comes back up.
Coaches will be notified biweekly of students grades throughout season.
All players are expected to dress professionally on game days. If you were
interviewing for a job or interviewing to be accepted into college, what
would you wear? This should your mind set when getting dressed every day
on game days. (If the outfit is questionable, DO NOT wear it). Not dressing
for success on game days will result in not dressing out for that days game.
If you are attending an event on school campus or a school event outside of
campus, you need to dress appropriately. You represent the volleyball team
and need to carry yourselves with respect.
All players will travel to and from games together. Unless it is an emergency
that is cleared by the coach ahead of time (not right after a game), you
must ride on the bus with your team. If it is cleared by your coach, you may
only travel with your parent to and from a game. Homework, is not an
emergency.
Players will travel unified either in game day dress, or game day warm ups.
If a player fails to dress with the team, it will result in affected play time.
Be a role model. So many younger girls look up to you and even your fellow
peers. You are a part of a winning program that others strive to be a part
of; always conduct yourself in that way. You are young ladies first and
foremost that represent your family, community, and school. You should
influence others to do the right thing!
Leave drama off of the court. I understand situations happen, but for the
hours you are on the court for practices and games, volleyball should be
your focus. Carrying drama into practices and games ultimately affects your
teammates as well. Put your team before yourself.
And the most important rule of all; HAVE FUN! You are out here playing a
sport you LOVE! Use volleyball as a way to get away from pressures that

you may face and put all of your effort and time into volleyball when youre
on the court. Love what you do and the work comes easy.

Expectations (Players & Parents)

All players are expected to work hard in EVERY practice and EVERY game.
Parents: If you are unpleased with a situation from a volleyball game, you
have to take 24 hours before contacting a coach. You may not approach a
coach inside the gym, in the gym lobby, or outside in the parking lot after a
game.
If a parent meeting is set up for parents to meet with coaches, their child
must attend the meeting.
Encouragement from players and parents is expected. We are all family and
we should constantly be picking one another up, not tearing each other
down.
If parents would like to purchase team apparel, coaches must be notified
and give consent before any final decisions are made.
Parents, please contact coaches ANYTIME with any issue going on or just to
give out suggestions to make our program better.

I have read and agree to the rules and expectations of the North Myrtle Beach
High School volleyball program. I will honor these rules and support my child to
stay on the right track and abide by these rules at all times.
