Grade 1 Literacy Progress Guide

The Language Arts DPM provides teachers with information to guide their instruction through assessments of students' reading and writing skills at different points throughout the year. A variety of literacy assessments are used to measure students' mastery of Texas standards, including independent reading level, high frequency word recognition, performance on the ISIP reading test, and written compositions. Assessment results are compared to minimum standards at the beginning, middle and end of the grade 1 school year to monitor student progress in developing proficiency.
