SUMMARY
The case study discusses the possibility of recycling house waste, which at the same time being
recognised as a potential profitable business opportunity. Punita, a business study graduate believes
door to door recycling services may be profitable, however before implementing her business plans
she decided to conduct a research on the viability of this business plan.

Reseach Hypothesis
Null hypothesis: Ho- Door to door recycling service is profitable
Alternate hypothesis: Ha- Door to door recycling service is not profitable
Research Design
Exploratory research design
The objective of the research here is to explore and obtain clarity about the ideas that Punita had about
the convenience of recycling.
It involves a qualitative investigation as the research is used to uncover trends in thoughts about the
convenience of recycling.
The sample size is strictly not representative
Focus group discussion approach can be used for interviewing in this case, Punita can carry out
discussion with significant individuals who are associated with the problem.
Variables
Number of houses, Population, Awareness about recycling, Willingness to pay
Investigative question
How much concerned and conscious the people are about the environment? Will such a service make
them satisfied? Will they be willing to pay? How do they usually treat their household wastage?
How many manpower is required for the door to door servicing? How much remuneration should
they receive? Are there any competitors for this service?
