1. Using MATLAB, find the Laplace transform of f(t) given by,
a) f(t) = 1
b) f(t) =( )e-t
c) f(t) = t2 sin 2t
2. Using MATLAB find the Inverse Laplace Transform of F(s) given by
a) F(s) = 1/ (s+4)
b) F(s) = 1 / (s2+ 2s + 17)
3. Define the following transfer function G(s) , in MATLAB
G(s) = [s(s+2)(s+3)] / [(s)(s+4)(s2+4s+8)]
4. Using MATLAB residue command , compute the partial-fraction expansion of the following transfer
functions:
a) G(s) = (s2+ 2s + 3) / (s3+ 2s2+4s + 6)
b) G(s) = (s3+2s2 + 4s + 6) / (s2 + 2s + 3)
5. Obtain the partial fraction expressions for the following transfer function.
a) G(s) = [4(s+1)] / [ s2(s - 1)(s+5)]
b) G(s) = 2/ [s(s2+2s+2)]
6. Given zeros, poles, & gain k, obtain the system transfer function for the following cases:
a) One zero is at 0 , poles are at -1+3j and -1-3j, k=10
b) One zero at -2, poles at -3,-5 and -10 , k = 15
7. Given the following transfer functions, obtain the locations of poles & zeros.
(a) G(s) = (s+2)/ [s(s+3)(s+4)]
(b) G(s) = (s)/(s2+1)
8. Let the transfer functions of the two systems be given by
G1(s) = 10/(s+1)(s+2)
and G2(s) = 2/(s2+4)
Find the overall system transfer function , when these two systems are connected in (a)series
(b) parallel and (c) feedback.
9. Plot the unit step & impulse response of the following control systems, whose closed loop transfer function are
given as follows:
a) G(s) = 2 / (s2+3s+3)(1+s)
b) G(s) = 15 / (s+1)(s+10) (2s+1)
10. Obtain the ramp response of the following transfer functions.
a) G(s) = 30/ (s2+5s+30)
b) G(s) = 6/ (s2+5s+6)
11 . A closed loop control system has a transfer function C(s)/R(s) = (s+5)/(s3+2s2+3s+5) . Obtain the response
of this system for an input r (t) = e

- 0.2t

, for t =0 to 9 sec. in steps of 0.15 sec.
