Assessment: Advantages of A Completion or Short Answer Test
Completion or short answer tests have advantages in that they can cover a broad range of topics quickly, are easier to prepare and score than other tests, and reduce guessing. However, they are limited in assessing complex learning outcomes or higher-order thinking skills, scoring can be difficult if questions are not clear, and scoring responses is tedious. They work best for questions that can be answered concisely but are not suited to measuring complex abilities.
