    Sample statement of purpose

    A statement of purpose is your personal statement about who you are and about
    your childminding service. Here is an example for you to adapt and write in your
    own words:

    As a registered childminder I aim to provide a childminding service that allows boys


    and girls to learn and develop in a safe, secure, home-based environment. Play will
    be at the centre of the child’s learning and development, and a wide range of
    activities and experiences appropriate to the age and stage of development will be
    offered.

    I am registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales to care for up
    to [insert number] children from birth to 8 years of age. I can also offer out of school
    care for children over the age of eight. My service is open to all children and families
    and I may be able to care for children with additional needs.

    I have a small outdoor play area [delete if not applicable] and children will also be
    taken to the local park, shops and library on a regular basis. My first language is
    [English/Welsh/other]. I can drop off and pick up from [insert names of schools]
    schools and pre-schools.

    I provide a range of activities including art and craft, storytelling, singing and musical
    instruments, role play, construction toys and jigsaws.

    My service is available from [insert times] and I will negotiate an individual contract
    for each child.

    Following my Complaints Policy, any complaints, which I cannot resolve, can be
