Profile
I am a hard-working, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with a keen interest in the
scientific study of Oceanography. I am academically well-rounded and an excellent member of a
team with previous qualifications In Computing, Business and History and their related skill sets. At
the moment I am in my second year reading an FdSc in Marine Science at a European-recognised
education establishment, Falmouth Marine School, with the aim of going on to further study a
MOSci in Oceanography and Biology at Southampton or Liverpool University.
Research interests
I am in the middle of a primary research project looking at the distribution and abundance of marine
Native and invasive sessile organisms in the Fal estuary, Cornwall, with relation to recreational and
industrial maritime. This research is crucial in the area and organisations such as Cornwall Wildlife
trust, Marine Conservation Society, Falmouth Harbour commissioners and A&P group Falmouth,
have shown a lot of interest and support for my project and its subsequent results.

Work Experience
Sea Champion (volunteer) - Marine Conservation Society, November 2012 to Present
Responsibilities: Delivering conservation actions and messages; running fundraising events; giving
talks and raising awareness about marine issues; participating in national campaigns; attending local
events; organising beach cleans; promoting sustainable seafood; general public awareness; writing
methodologies for new surveys; overseeing and running scientific surveys.
Scientific Officer (volunteer) GVI Marine Expedition Mexico, April 2011 to May 2011
Responsibilities: Conduct underwater scientific surveys; beach cleans; working with local
communities and NGOs; English lessons and environmental education workshops; base duties; study
of reef and marine species; helped to form a comprehensive overview of the health of the reef
system; help determine the species and breeding success of sea turtles; working as part of closeknitted team to ensure maximum efficiency; living in basic community and working with what you
get.
