Week 3
Analyzing Classroom Discourse
I observe my teacher in grade two, I saw her focused in a core part of the class. I observed her talking approximately less than 10 minutes. Through this minutes, I heard my teacher use some words when she asking questions about math topics such as how many?, when and why. Also, I saw that many of students were understanding the new topic of math and that depend on teacher efforts. For example, I saw that students were effective with their teacher questions and they also have a direct answer for her questions. During math lesson, students have an especially opportunity to talk. They will talk when they teacher call them, they talk with friends when they have a group activity and if they have a question such as Is it correct? or how can we solve it? In my opinion, mathematics is very important in our life. It help us in some cases such as traveling, restaurant, hotels and markets. Students in grade 2 learn about how to use and count money. This is very important for them to know how to deal when they go to grocery.
