Professionalism and understanding

Goal 1: work more collaboratively with my MST and colleagues.

Description:
Here are some captures from e-mail with MST discussing about lesson plan. I kept on
touch with my MST to send her my lesson plans and ask about her opinion about my
prepared lessons. She was very helpful and I got an effective feedback on the plans
in order to adjust it before the lesson. This shows that I was acting professionally and
it shows that I cooperate positively with her (according to the teaching
competencies).

Justification:
Using my MSTs advises helped me to think more logically and encouraged me to
plan for extension activities. This is because of the nature of the class. If the
students were quit and they were on task, they might finish the planned activity and
the good teacher should use this time in developing or evaluating the students
understanding.

Goal 2: collaborate with HCT teacher to organize speaking workshop

Description:
Organizing the speaking workshop was one of the best practices for me. I dealt
with pre-foundation students not school students which allowed me to have
opportunity to have a small expertise with teaching HCT learner. Although the
learners were too weak in speaking; but, we had fun and they tried hard to make
sentences and to communicate effectively with each other. I appreciate this
chance from my HCT teacher.

Justification:
This workshop taught me how to plan positively for the learners. Add to that, I
learnt how to manage the time of the workshop. Linking it with the teaching
competencies, it also shows my professional behavior and my participation with
my teachers.

These are some captures of E-mails that I got as a thankful message from my
teachers:

Planning for learning

Goal 1: create more detailed lesson plans.
Description:
Throughout my teaching, I learnt a lot about who to create lesson plans and what
element should it covers. As I taught Math English and Science, I used different
forms of lesson plans. This allowed me to specify what materials I needs for the
lesson. Add to that, my lesson plans include the more details and organized
sequence of the lessons activities.

Justification:
Writing detailed plans aware me of the language that I have to use. Moreover, it
showed me the importance of preparing suitable instructions in each stage of the
lesson plans. Moreover, writing a detailed lesson plan help my peers, MCT and
MST to understand the lesson clearly.

plans

Implementing and managing learning

Goal 1: giving clear instructions for activities.
Description:
While teaching in the schools, I realized the importance of giving clear
instructions for the learners. Otherwise, they will be off task and they will not be
aware of the benefits of the activities. For that, I used different instruction types
to avoid any misunderstanding.

Justification:
According to the teaching competencies, teachers should use clear language in
order to deliver the information and they have to prepare an understandable
instruction. Furthermore, they should manage their uses of language according
to the students levels. As a result, I became more organized and I didnt waste
the class time by repeating the instructions many times.
Here are some examples of the written instructions:
Hard copy of the instructions:

In the lesson plans (for the full screen, see attachment 4):

Goal 1: giving clear instructions for activities.

Here is another example of developing my ways of giving instructions:
In year 2, I had some comments on my teaching from my MCT and she was pointing
to my language and my way of giving the instructions. I still to confidence about
myself and my classes were not managed well.
This is a screenshot of my year 2 teacher:

A comparison with year 4, I overcome these weaknesses and I have better teaching.
I use the strategy of repeating my instructions in order to see if the learners are
aware about what is expected from them. My MCT wrote a note about this and she
liked the implementing of this strategy.

Monitoring and Assessment

Goal 1: Providing a formative assessment for the learner.

Description:
During my previous TP, I applied some formative assessment such as; dictation,
drills and filling the gabs strategies. I aimed to enhance the students learning.
Moreover, it was encouraging the learners to study daily for the dictation and for

the information gabs. The implement of these strategies started after I gave the
new vocabulary for the learners and it was almost every day for two weeks.
These strategies gave me an idea about the students learning as I was recording
the achievement for each student.

Justification:
These strategies helped the learners to understand and memorize the words.
Furthermore, it helped me as a teacher in the following lessons (as the lessons
are connecting to each other) where I havent to re-teach the words again
instead of delivering the new lessons.

The following pictures show some examples of dictation and information gab
strategies:

Goal 2: The uses of written feedback to monitor and assess students progress
Description:
I tend to use written feedback for my learners in order to correct their writing
next time. This demonstrates the goal of assessing and monitoring the learners
learning from the teaching competencies. Writing feedback for the learners was
benefiting me as well as I knew the students weakness where I can plan
effectively for the future lessons.

Justification:
I learned that the positive feedback encouraged the students to improve more
and work hard. Moreover, the notes or the written feedback tells the students
about their performance and what their weakness are and what they need to
improve. My students were happy to read the feedback about their writing and
that encouraged them to write more and work hard.

Reflection
Goal 1: have more critical reflections from my peers.
Description:
I asked my peer to attend my classes and to write some notes of the strength,
weakness and what should I improve for the next lesson. My peer observed my
twice and I really used from her feedback.

Justification:
Using peer evaluation helped me to avoid my mistakes that were not obvious for
me. I learnt how to deal with failed strategies and how to alter it into more
effective ones. Besides, the peer writing encouraged me to achieve a positive
progression toward better teaching and managing.

These are the two observations notes from my peer:
