Difference Between Data Interface & Conversion

Data interfaces are periodic processes that transfer transaction data from legacy systems to Oracle systems on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis and are executed during production, whereas data conversions are one-time events executed before production that involve receiving legacy data, validating it, and converting it to the target module using import programs. While interfaces do not depend on data mapping and are more complex and costly to maintain, conversions are entirely dependent on data mapping activities and are less expensive to maintain than interfaces.

Difference Between

Data
Interface & Conversion

Data Interface:

Interfaces are periodical process

The transactions against the customers will be
loaded daily or weekly or monthly is called interfac
Interfaces executed during production
Interface is used to transfer data from legacy system
to oracle system
Interface down not depends upon the data mapping
activity So its complex
Maintenance of interface is bit cost intensive

Data Conversion:

Conversions are a one time event

Conversions executed before production
Data conversion is receiving data from a legacy
system ,validating it & converting to our target
module using the import program
Conversion does have very complex, its totally
depends upon the data mapping activity
Maintenance of conversion is less cost intensive
compare to interface
