What political, economic and social divisions in

L.A. nations hinder successful democracies?

In Latin America there are enormous economic gaps between the people who live there.
There are a very small percentage of people living in wealth and a very large percentage of the
poor who struggle to get by. This causes a ton of issues with peoples standard of living and
daily life. There are wealthy cities that are full of the rich and right at the edge of the city lies all
the poor and unstructured poor. This relates back to the old saying the rich keep getting richer
and the poor keep getting poorer. Uruguay, Chile, Argentina remain the poorest countries in
South america, while Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia are the richest of South America. This is a
major problem in South America because it restricts their ability to adapt a strong democracy.
There isnt much hope that the people living in poverty will ever get out of it. This means that
there isnt really a way for latin america to improve their economy. Its too far down the road to
look back and try to fix it. Some suggest that the debts that people owe should just be forgotten
or something major needs to happen to create change. There were military rulers of Brazil that
focused mainly on improving the economy of Brazil, this extremely helped the economy boom.
Many projects took place in the amazon that were a major impact. Cubas communist
background makes it hard for the nation to grow economically. The United States refused to
trade with Cuba and put up trade barriers. NFTA or the North American Free Trade Agreement
removed the trade barriers between Mexico, America, and Canada allowing these nations to
trade freely without any restrictions on what they're allowed to do.
