This lesson plan is for a 30 minute matching game activity called "Mitch Match" for pre-k students. II. Materials:
20 Pre made laminated cards with different pictures of flakes on them.
Pre made laminated card board with an image of the different laminated
snowflake cards
A magnifying glass
Teacher Tipster (Count by 10s - Snowflake Song)

III. Procedure:
A. Motivation
1. I will ask the children if they know what snowflakes are.
2. I will have the children look at the sky and observe the already place
snowflakes on the ceiling. (placed prior to my lesson)
3. I will let the children point out some differences they may find in them.
B. Steps
1. I will direct the children to their groups of 3.
2. I will tell the children that today we will be playing a matching game

3. I will Ask 2 children to come up and participate in playing the game


with me one time to show the class.
4. I will have one of the children pick up a card and tell the class what
makes that snow flake different and match it to the one on the board
game.
5. I will then repeat the same steps with the other child
6. I will let each group play the game together and talk about the
similarities and differences in each snow flake.
7. Once each group has mastered the game I will direct them to circle
time
IV. Conclusion: I will introduce the song Teacher Tipster (Count by 10s Snowflake Song) and let the children sing along.
V. Transition: I will ask each child to point the snowflake that they liked the most
and then go to their seats.
VI. Follow-Up Activities/Learning Centers:
1. Put books in out library about snow flakes
2. Let the children go out and play in the snow
3. Let the children create snow flakes
VII. Evaluation/Assessment:
1. Did the children enhance their cognitive skills by using their memory to
match cards
2. Did the children enhance their creative arts skills by singing along to
Teacher Tipster (Count by 10s - Snowflake Song)
3. Did the children enhance their approaches to learning by staying attentive
and participating in the game
