NX How To Store Text Notes in The Reuse Library
NX How To Store Text Notes in The Reuse Library
Library NX Native
The NX Reuse Library is typically used to store and manage standard parts and
Drafting custom symbols, but it can also be used to store your standard drawing
notes. The procedure to do this is outlined below;
1. Create a folder on a shared network drive to store the notes, for example;
G:\NX_Reuse_Library\Standard_Notes.
(This folder can be created alongside your existing reuse library data, and
further sub-folders can be added if required.)
Restart NX to ensure the changes to the customer defaults are picked up.
Note: Steps 2-3 are not required if you are using an existing Reuse Library.
Proceed to step 4.
2. Define the location of the Reuse Library data in NX via;
File Utilities Customer Defaults Gateway Reuse Library General
(tab)
In the Libraries Organized by Native Folder section, enter the name for
the Reuse Library and the full pathname of the folder location, separated
by a vertical bar (|).
(Enter only the top-level folder for the Reuse Library data, do not include
the sub-folders.)
3. Use Tools -> Reuse Library -> Reuse Library Management, select the
Reuse Library created above and use the Application Task icon to choose
the applications in which the Reuse Library will be available.
Close. OK.
The next steps are to create the standard notes;
4. In NX, create a new file, select a model template and name it
appropriately, for example Fabrication Note.
5. Start the Drafting application, but do not create a sheet.
6. Create the Note (Insert > Annotation > Note) and format it as required.
(The content of the note can be imported from an existing text file.)
7. Select the origin point of the Datum Coordinate System to place the note.
Save the part.
10.Select the Reuse Library tab in the Resource Bar. Expand the Reuse
Library, select the required folder, use the right-hand mouse button
option Define Reusable Object.
11.Set the selection Type to General, select the note, enter a Descriptive
Name (optional), set the Preview Image - Input to Region and drag a box
over the note to create a preview. Select OK.
To add the notes to a drawing, simply drag-and-drop them from the Reuse Library
on to the drawing, and position as required;
