1 (a)

In all the Faculties/Departments except the Faculties/Departments offering Inter-disciplinary or


professional Courses, 50% of the total intake shall be earmarked to be filled by direct admission of the
students of the University of Delhi and the remaining 50% for admission through entrance test plus
interview, if any. If any seat remain vacant against direct admission category due to non-availability
of eligible candidates, the same shall be transferred and filled through admission entrance test.

(b)

The reservation/concession to the prescribed extent shall apply separately in both the categories in
compliance with the rules notified by the University from time to time.

(c)

In the faculties/departments offering Inter-disciplinary or professional courses, all admissions shall


be made through admission entrance test and interview, if any.

There will also be common online registration for the candidates applying for admission under
Category-II i.e. through entrance test to the following courses in School of Open Learning (SOL) and
Non-Collegiate Womens Education Board (NCWEB) for which the respective Departments/Faculties
shall conduct common admission entrance tests. However, all other procedure for admission will be
done by the SOL and NCWEB:

Further, for admission under Category-I, i.e. Direct Admission, the candidates shall register
themselves for admission separately with SOL and NCWEB in accordance with the schedule
and procedure prescribed by the SOL and NCWEB. The NCWEB and SOL shall make
admissions under this mode too at their own level.

3.

Admit Cards for entrance test shall be mailed to the candidates online.

4.

All candidates shall apply online for admission to different Post-graduate/Masters Courses centrally.
There will be a common Web Portal for the centralized registration of candidates and a common
registration form for admission to all the Post-graduate/Masters Courses in the University. The data of
the applicants shall then be transmitted to the Faculty/Department concerned for further processing.

5.

The technical queries will have to be sent to [email protected] only by the Nodal Officer.

6.

After submission of the registration form, corrections, additions, deletions etc. in any
manner shall not be allowed. The candidates are, therefore, advised to fill their forms
carefully.

Maintenance of Discipline:

Maintenance of discipline among students; ragging and complaints against sexual harassment shall be
dealt in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance XV of the Ordinances of the University as amended
from time to time.

Protocol for conduct for OMR based Examinations:


In order to promote transparency, streamline proactive information dissemination and facilitate the
candidates with an opportunity to bring out any inconsistency/error in the conduct of OMR based
examinations, the University has laid down the following guidelines:

A.
Disclosure of Answer Key of MCQ entrance examination and other Attendant Issues

1.
The Department will upload the answer key of an entrance examination conducted for
admission for various courses of study after 24 hours from the conclusion of the entrance
examination on the official website of the University, www.du.ac.in

2.
The candidate is required to visit the website to check the answer key vis-a-vis the question
paper used by him/her. In case of any discrepancy/inconsistency/error vis--vis the
question paper and answer key, the candidate concerned can register a complaint within 48
hours from the time of uploading of the answer key.

3.
Concerned department will announce an e-mail id and a designated official to whom such
complaints are required to be addressed as per timeline stipulated above.

4.
The Department concerned shall convene a meeting of their respective boards immediately
thereafter with the following mandate:

i.
Check

the veracity of the complaints registered
ii.
In
case the complaints have substance, necessary corrective measures
would be taken
iii.
Corrections, so carried out, would be put on the same website link where

the original answer key was uploaded for convenience of all concerned

B.

Disclosure of Evaluated OMR Response Sheet (ORS)


1.

The request for obtaining a copy of the ORS by the candidate concerned must be made within
7 calendar days from the date of declaration of the result to the University in the prescribed
format along with a fee of Rs. 500/- per paper.

2.

The candidate is required to get the application form verified by the Principal/ HOD of the
concerned college/department of the University.

3.

The candidate is required to attach to a self-attested copy of his/her admit card/admission


ticket for the entrance examination under reference at the time of submission of his/her
application form.

4.

Payment is to be made in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of The Registrar,
University of Delhi payable at Delhi on all working days.



5.

No application for obtaining a copy of the ORS shall be accepted after the stipulated time.

6.

Entries made by the candidate in the application form should be strictly as per the particulars
available with the candidate.

7.

Erroneous/incomplete application form shall be rejected forthwith. No further


correspondence would be entertained in this regard for correction of entries/ refund of fees.

8.

The application to obtain ORS should be made by the candidate in his/her own handwriting
under his/her own signature. No authorization on behalf of the candidate would be
entertained under any circumstances.

9.

The ORS will be supplied by the University after eclipsing all information relating to the
identity of the examiner/evaluator/any other official associated with the concerned
examination process.

10.

The student is required to collect his/her ORS from the University from 16th to 30th day from
the date of submission of the application to this effect. The University shall have no obligation
to retain the ORS or a copy thereof beyond this time schedule under any circumstances.

On obtaining of a copy of the ORS as per the procedure prescribed by the University, if a
student finds any error in totaling of marks of finds any unevaluated answer, the student
should communicate it to the concerned department within a period of 7 days from the date
of collection of the copy of the ORS. The department will endeavor to address the issue within
10 days from the receipt of such complaint.

No representation other than relating to error of totaling of marks or unmarked/unevaluated
answers shall be entertained by the University. No third party request for a copy of the ORS
would be entertained by the University under any circumstances.

Fee once deposited will not be refunded under any circumstances.

GUIDELINES FOR ADMISSION

1. AGE:

As per Ordinance-I of the University, there is no minimum age bar for admission to
the under-graduate and post-graduate courses in the University and its colleges
except in the courses where the respective regulatory bodies, such as Medical

Council of India (MCI), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Bar Council

of India (BCI), National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Dental Council of

India (DCI), etc. have prescribed the minimum age requirement in their regulations.

2. RELAXATIONS/CONCESSIONS

(a) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe

The minimum eligibility requirement for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe


candidates will be that they must have passed the qualifying school/degree
examination. Provided that the minimum eligibility for admission to
post-graduate Courses be the minimum pass marks of the qualifying
examination concerned of the University of Delhi. In the case of Scheduled
Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates who had passed the last qualifying
examination from other Universities, they should have secured at least the same
percentage of pass marks at the qualifying examination as prescribed for the
equivalent examination of Delhi University for purposes of admission to the
Post-graduate course of this University.

That where the admission is based on screening/written test, the Scheduled
Caste/Tribe candidates would also be required to take the test but their merit
list will be drawn separately.

(b) Other Backward Classes



The OBC candidates shall be given a relaxation in the minimum eligibility in the
qualifying examination and in the minimum eligibility (if any) in the admission
entrance test to the extent of 10% of the minimum eligibility marks prescribed
for the General Category candidates. For example, if the minimum eligibility for
admission to a course is 50% for the General Category candidates, the minimum
eligibility for the OBCs would be 45% i.e. (50% less 10% of 50%).
All those OBC candidates who meet the minimum eligibility marks in the
qualifying examination and the minimum eligibility marks (if any) in the
entrance test shall be eligible for admission in the order of their merit, keeping
in view the availability of seats reserved for them.

The OBC candidates who belong to the Non-Creamy Layer and whose castes
appear in the Central List of the OBCs only shall be eligible to be considered for
admission under the OBC Category.

(c) Persons With Disabilities (PWD)



The PWD candidates with not less than 40% disability shall be given a
relaxation in the minimum eligibility in the qualifying examination and in the
minimum eligibility (if any) in the admission entrance test to the extent of 5%.

(d) Children/Widows of the eligible Armed Forces Personnel (CW Category)
including Para Military Forces:
A concessions of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility requirements in the
qualifying examinations.

(e) The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and
Persons with Physical Disability shall be charged the admission form/entrance
examination fee at concessional rates.

3. RESERVATIONS

(a) Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes

Reservation of seats shall be in the following manner:

Scheduled Caste
= 15% of total intake in each course

Scheduled Tribe
= 7 % of total intake in each course

Other Backward Classes = 27% of total intake in each course

The seats reserved for the SC/ST shall be filled by the SC/ST candidates only.
However, in the case of non-availability of the eligible candidates the
reserved seats may be interchanged between the SC & ST. If still any seat
remains unfilled, the same shall be left vacant.

The seats reserved for the OBCs shall be filled with the OBC candidates only.
Only if OBC candidates possessing the minimum eligibility marks are not
available in the OBC category then the vacant OBC seats shall be converted
into General Category seats in accordance with the admission schedule
notified by the University.
(b) Supernumerary seats:

(i) Persons with Disabilities (PWD) =3% of total intake (1% each for the
persons with low vision or blindness, hearing impaired and loco motor
disability or cerebral palsy (interchangeable in case of non-availability of
candidates in the sub-categories).

(ii) Children/Widows of the eligible Armed Forces Personnel including
Para Military Forces:
(CW Category) =5% of the seats in each course.

As per the guidelines approved by the Academic Council, admission of
candidates belonging to CW categories have to be made in the following
order of priorities:

I. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action;
II. Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action;
III. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died in peace time
with death attributable to military service;
IV. Wards of Defence personnel disabled in peace time with disability
attributable to the military service; and
V.
Wards of Ex-servicemen personnel and serving personnel
including personnel of police forces who are in receipt of
Gallantry Awards; Category-V (Gallantry Awards) include:
Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal,
Maha Vir Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Uttam Yudh Seva Medal,Vir
Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Yudh Seva Medal ,Sena, Nau Sena,-
Vayusena Medal, Mention-in-Despatches, President's Police
Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Gallantry.

Authorities Competent to issue educational concession certificates under CW
category:-

Secretary, Kendriya, Sainik Board, Delhi
Secretary, RajyaZilaSainik Board
Officer-in-Charge, Records Office
1st class Stipendiary Magistrate
Ministry of Home Affairs (for Police personnel in receipt of Gallantry
Awards)

(iii) Foreign Nationals=5% seats in each course in Departments/ Colleges.

(iv) Sports: Upto 5% of total intake in each postgraduate course may be
offered to the candidates on the basis of Sports in accordance with the
guidelines issued by the University from time to time.

4. Permission to students to apply under General/SC/ST/OBC Category as well as CW,
PWD Category etc. The candidates applying for admission to various courses shall be
permitted to apply simultaneously under Gen/SC/ST/OBC Category as well as
Children of War Widows, Person with Disability and other categories for which
reservations/concession is admissible.

5. Registration /Admission of foreign nationals

a)
The foreign nationals seeking admission in the University/its colleges shall
have to get themselves registered with the Foreign Students Registry (FSR) in
compliance with the schedule notified by the FSR. No Foreign students will be
admitted directly by the Department/Colleges.

b)
Foreign nationals shall be exempted from appearing in Admission Entrance
Test conducted by the College/Department for admission. Foreign nationals
who are stationed in India and have passed last examination from Board /
University in India shall also be exempted from appearing in entrance test
conducted by the College/Department in all Courses.

c)
All the Categories of foreign students shall come under the same category of
5% quota for foreign nationals for admission. This shall include foreign
nationals with qualifications attained either from Indian Board /University or
Foreign Board/University.

d)

All admissions in Foreign Students category shall be done on individual merit


and a single merit list of foreign students, both with Indian and foreign
qualifications shall be prepared for admission in various courses.

e)

At least one seat shall be reserved for foreign nationals in all Post-Graduate
courses wherever the total numbers of seats for admission is less than 20.


6. The faculties/departments, if they decide to also hold Group Discussion (GD) or
interview in addition to the admission entrance test, shall not assign more than 15%
marks to the GD or interview.

7. The merit list for the general category seats will comprise of all the candidates in the
order of merit. No one will be excluded from the same. In other words, it will also
include SC/ST/OBC candidates if they come in the general merit. A candidate cannot
be excluded from the general category merit list just because he belongs to
SC/ST/OBC. Such a candidate is entitled to be considered under the general category,
as well as under the reserved category. Admission to open category seats will be
strictly in the order of merit without excluding SC/ST/OBC candidates.

8. All those courses wherein admissions are based on the rank in the entrance
examination, the candidates will be eligible for admission only after the result of the
qualifying examination has been declared and the candidates meet the minimum
eligibility criteria. Thus the candidates who are though eligible for admission on the
basis of the admission entrance test but they do not have the results of their
qualifying degree examinations shall not be allowed provisional admission. Such
candidates will, however, be considered for admission in the subsequent admission
lists, as and when the results of the qualifying examinations are declared provided
the candidates submit the results to the concerned department/faculty/college.

9. The practice of condonation of delay in admission by the Vice-Chancellor has been
discontinued from the academic session 2011-2012. Therefore, as per Ordinance-II,
admission to all the postgraduate courses shall have to be finalized by the 31st August
of the academic year of admission.

10. The colleges/Departments shall get the relevant certificates submitted for availing
the benefit of reservation verified from the respective issuing authorities.

11. As per A.C. Resolution 40 dated 24/04/1997, no student of the University shall be
permitted to pursue two degree courses simultaneously either from the University of
Delhi or from other University except the part-time diplomas/certificates of the
University of Delhi.

12. For admission to the courses which are governed by the Regulations of the
regulatory bodies, such as Medical Council of India (MCI), All India Council of
Technical Education (AICTE), Bar Council of India (BCI), National Council of Teacher
Education (NCTE), Dental Council of India (DCI), etc. the minimum eligibility
requirements prescribed under their respective regulations shall be followed.
