Miss Hawks Guest Speakers

Guest Speaker # 1
Name: Julie Johns
Age: 29
Occupation: Bank Teller at Chase Bank

Inviting Miss. Johns to my class would really help my students

understand why money is so important in our society and the values
that it has. While Miss. Johns is in my classroom I would ask her to talk
about her career as a bank teller, and how what my students are
learning right now in my classroom will benefit them in the future.
While Miss. Johns is present she will also participate in a Q & A with my
class about money related topics( questions will be prepared ahead of
time).
Guest Speaker # 2
Name: Dylan Save
Occupation: General Manger at Trader Joes Grocery Store
Inviting Mr. Save to our classroom will prep my students for the field
trip that they will be taking to the grocery store. While Mr. Save is
visiting I will have him talk about the types of behaviors my students
should have on the field trip and also other things such as what goes in
grocery stores and the role grocery stores play in our community. Mr.
Save will also participate in a Q & A with my class about money related
topics (questions will be prepared ahead of time).

Self Evaluation

Here is a list of problems that I may encounter while teaching

this lesson
1. When asking questions about money and parents I should not
phrase the sentence as mom and dad it should be phrase as
family
2. When acknowledging different cultures and their currency make
sure you talk about each culture that is represented in the
classroom.
3. When going on the filed trip making sure that each child
respects the culture and the values of the people we will meet
4. Parents being involved in the class and feeling comfortable
sending in product labels from home
5. Paying for the fieldtrip
When teaching this lesson in my future classroom I do not think I will
encounter too many problems. I believe that money is a universal
concept that everyone has in common and understands even though
currency looks different around the globe. The only big problem that I
foresee happening in this unit is my students being open to trying the
new food that they will be trying at the middle eastern restaurant and
bakery.
