    Dear Ms. Shaw,
    Please accept this as my application for the position of Elementary
    Occasional Teacher. I am currently enrolled at Nipissing University
    completing my Bachelor of Education in the Primary and Junior division.
    I am very keen on continuing my education; I believe that through taking
    Additional Qualifications I can only further my skills as an educator. With
    that being said the courses that interest me the most are Special
    Education, Music Education, Math and Kindergarten. I have had the
    privilege of being able to gather a great deal of experience working with
    people and more specifically children through holding a variety of
    different positions including: swim instructor, outdoor education
    instructor, tutor and as a Residence Don and Community Coordinator.
    All of these positions have taught me the value of forming being in tune
    with the people I am working with, teamwork and the importance of
    being prepared. Some of my strengths as an educator are:
    understanding the social and emotional needs of students, setting a
    positive atmosphere to encourage learning, using positive
    reinforcement, being a reflective practioner.
    I believe that it is the teachers role to facilitate learning and not to just
    impart knowledge on their students. The learning experience should be
    centered on students needs and interests while also meeting the
    expectations of the curriculum. In order to support this kind of learning I
    believe it is essential for the teacher to develop and maintain a
    supportive learning community.
