Flash Distillation

This document describes a process to separate a mixed hydrocarbon stream into two product streams using flash distillation. The feed stream contains 15% ethane, 20% propane, 60% 1-butane and 5% n-butane at a rate of 100 lb-mole/hr and is compressed to 50 psia and cooled to 32°F. The question asks to calculate the flow rates and compositions of the vapor and liquid product streams using Aspen Hysys simulation software.

Flash Distillation:

Q) We have stream containing 15% ethane, 20% propane, 60% 1-Butame and
5% n-butane at 50F, atmospheric pressure. The flow rate of the stream is
100 lb-mole/hr. This stream is compressed at 50 psia and cooled to 32F. The
resulting vapor and liquid are to be separated as two product streams.
Calculate the flow rate and composition of the two streams using Aspen
Hysys?
