Paper plates, markers, crayons, water color paints, google eyes (3 kinds), pompoms,
buttons, construction paper, pipe cleaners, glue, scissors, encyclopedia, and Diary of A
Spider by Doreen Cronin
Anticipating and Planning for Challenges:
Using too much glue- have paper towels handy
Running out of supplies- bring more than you think will be needed
Activity Procedure/Concept Exploration:
Talk about what students already know about spiders
Look at pictured of real spiders from an encyclopedia
Talk about what spiders look like
Explain that that are going to be making paper spiders
Students then create their own version of a spider by using supplies provided how they like
Read Diary of A Spider by Doreen Cronin
Closure/Transitions:
Let each girl show off her creation and explain how it is a spider.
Assessment:
Students will have created something that looks like a spider
