Bagasse Test:: Moisture Content (Initial Weight (100gms) ) - (Final Weight)

The document describes procedures for testing bagasse moisture content, phosphate levels in drum water, silica levels in various boiler samples, and ash unburnt percentage. Bagasse moisture content is determined by weighing samples before and after heating. Phosphate in drum water is measured using a spectrophotometer. Silica testing involves adding reagents to samples over time and taking spectrophotometer readings. Ash unburnt percentage is found by weighing ash before and after heating at 800°C for 3 hours.

Bagasse Test:

Take different samples of weight 100 grams each.

Keep them in different trays.
Put them in the hot air oven.
Maintain 100C for 3 hours.
After 3 hours weight the remaining bagasse.

The difference between the initial weight and final weight will be the moisture contents of
bagasse.
Moisture content = (Initial weight (100gms)) (Final weight)
Phosphate Test for Drum Water:

Take 10 ml of drum water.

Keep it in spectrophotometer and make it zero.
Add phosphate reagent to the sample.
Stir it and wait for 2 minutes.
Keep in spectrophotometer and note down the readings.

Silica Test:
Silica test for boiler water will be done for every 4 hours for 5 different samples,
namely Feed water, Drum water, Superheated steam, Saturated steam, Turbine condensate.

Take samples of 50 ml.

Add 1 ml of silica reagent 1 in all samples.
Add 1 ml of silica reagent 2 in all samples.
Wait for 4 minutes.
Add silica reagent 3& 4 of 1 ml in all samples.
Stir it and wait for 10 minutes.
Take the readings in spectrophotometer.

Ash Unburnt Percentage Test:

Muffle furnace is used to test the ash and the sample is taken at Ash silo.
Take 5 grams of sample.
Maintain 800C.
Keep it for 3 hours.
Weight the remaining ash and the weight loss will be the unburnt ash.
