Animal Testing Report

This document discusses animal testing and provides information over three chapters. Chapter one describes types of testing done on animals for cosmetics and medicine. Many animals, like monkeys, rats, and rabbits are used for testing cosmetics, lotions, and other products. Chapter two outlines specific animals tested, including frogs, rabbits, mice, and monkeys. These animals are often taken from their natural habitats and kept in small, confined cages. Chapter three suggests ways to help stop animal testing, such as not purchasing animal-tested products, volunteering at animal shelters, and being "fur-free". The conclusion is that animal testing kills many animals but young people can help stop it through their choices.

Introduction
Imagine if you were stolen from you family and home. Imagine if
you were kept in a small uncomfortable cage. Imagine if you were
about to be tested on. Imagine if you were tested and died for
stuff like lipstick, powder, lotion, and medicines that mostly don't
work. That's what it is like to be a animal that was tested on.

Chapter 1: Types of Testing

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says
cosmetics are products used for the face and
body. Cosmetic testing means testing for beauty
products (powder, lotion, lipstick and other make
up stuff for face, skin, hair nails). Many animals
are treated badly like frogs, monkeys, rats and
bunnies. That lipstick that you keep in your purse
could have caused lots of animal deaths.
Surprisingly, people have a lot of things that are
animal tested when you dont recognize, especially for cosmetics.
In the United States you do not have to do cosmetic testing on
animals. That means the businesses doing cosmetic testing are
killers.

What is medical testing?

Definition: medical testing is to test animals for
medicine.
What types of medicines use animal testing: one
medicine is TGN1412 this drug worked on animals
but not on humans. The people that had TGN1412
suffered with the side effects and died. More than
10000 people die from animal tested medicines in
the UK.The law is that all medicines have to be tested on animals
before humans. Sciences do this because animals have 200 of
the same diseases and also sciences do this because they want
to give people a safe drug and for them to feel safe. But 92
percent of medicine don't work on humans even if they went
through all the tests. so that means that only 8% of medicines
work on humans! Most of the animal tested medicines don't work
on humans.

Chapter 2: Animals that are Tested

Frogs
Frogs eat bugs, so farmers have more
crops. Therefore, they are helpful animals.
Frogs help us so why don't we help them?
These animals are being killed for
classroom dissections. The frogs are taken
from their families and to never see them
again or born in classrooms. All for dissection.
The frogs bred in classrooms are kept in small,
cramp, and filthy containers.

Rabbits
Rabbits are cute, fuzzy, and adorable. Some
people even have them as pets. The problem is
scientists are testing on them. According to
PETA Kids, "241,000 bunnies have died in labs
in the U.S. every year." Lots of rabbits don't get
fresh air if they are tested and live in cages their
whole life. Rabbits are treated very badly. They
are used for not that important tests for example they get
dishwasher soap, and other soap products put in their eyes.
Scientists put chemicals on the rabbits skin. The rabbits are killed
after they are tested. This is sad. This is not right. These innocent
rabbits have done nothing and deserve freedom.

Mice
Mice are cute animals. Mice know when their
animal or human friends are not happy and try to
5

do everything to help them be happy. Mice also put themselves in

danger for others.why would you want to test and harm these
nice, caring, loving animals?Mice go through lots of tests like
being burned, poised, and given diseases. Mice go through these
harmful things for nothing because mice are not like humans they
don't react like humans so that means the medicine does not
work on humans. More than 100 million mice lose their lives in
U.S. every year. Mice are stolen from the wild and are breed in
labs for testing. mice and rates are used 95% of the time of
testing.

Monkeys
For tests monkeys get tubes stuck up their throats. More
than 1250,00 monkeys are kept in cages for testing.
Monkeys are stolen from the wild or are breed in labs for
testing. The monkeys that are born in labs are taken away
from their mothers in a couple of days. Monkeys are stolen
from their home and put in small cages. These cages are
small. The monkeys are alone and are lucky if they have a
small plastic toy in their cages.

Chapter 3: How can you help?

There are a lot of fun and easy ways you
can help animals. One way is to not
support animal entertainment like the
circus. At these types of events animals
are taken from the wild and are treated
terribly--kept in cages, whips are used,
and lots of hard work. You can also go
vegan. Vegan is when you do not eat or
wear things that come from animals like
leather, meat, and eggs. According to the
PETA Kids website: "If you do this you
can save more than 100 million animals."
Another way you could help is by not
buying stuff that has been tested on animals because if you do
this more animals will die or be tested on. Another great way to
help is volunteering at a animal shelter close by. In animal
shelters you can feed, play, and have lots of fun with these
animals. If you help out at a animal shelter you can make more
homes for animals like dogs, cats, and birds. When your class is
doing dissection you can say no. If you say no less animals will be
dissected. If everybody said no the animals that are dissected will
be free. Last, be fur free. Fur free is to not wear any fur like on,
slippers, boots, and jackets. The more fur you wear the more
animals die. So wear no fur!

Conclusion
Animal testing has been a very big problem because lots of
animals are being killed. But you can help stop it. There are a lot
of ways you can help these animals some are

- you can help out at a animal shelter

- You can also not buy animal tested products.
These are some ways you could help animals. If
you go these things you can save a lot of animal
lives.
