Concept Description: Joint Work Between: CRC (Canada) ETRI (Korea) UPV/EHU (Spain)

LDM is a technique that allows two synchronized signals to share the same RF channel. The upper layer carries an ultra-robust signal intended for mobile services, while the lower layer carries a higher SNR signal intended for legacy fixed services like HDTV. This allows both mobile and fixed services when noise is low, but only supports mobile services during high noise conditions. By using 100% of time, frequency and power resources, LDM provides better coverage than TDM/FDM which can waste resources when SNR thresholds are not met. The technique was jointly developed by researchers in Canada, Korea, and Spain.
