Liquid Column Manometer

The document discusses manometers, which are instruments used to measure pressure differentials. It describes what manometers do, how they work using principles of fluid dynamics, where they are used, and how to operate the main types including liquid-column, flexible membrane, and coiled tube manometers.

What does it do?

Monitoring Equipment

• Measure the differential pressure across two

points
•Positive pressure
•Negative pressure (vacuum)
• The liquid-column manometer is the oldest
type: a U-shaped tube half-full of liquid
• Liquid: oil, water, mercury
• A barometer is a manometer!!
