Assignment

NUST organized a university-wide clothes donation drive from December 8-19, 2014 to provide warm clothes to underprivileged people and displaced families from Waziristan settling in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Students and faculty were encouraged to donate unused clothes, which could be placed in donation boxes around campus or given to hostel representatives or at the Concordias. The goal was to put unused clothes to good use for those without proper clothing to wear, with the immediate impact being providing clothes to needy people.

ASSIGNMENT#2

With the arrival of winter and the abysmal state of our natural resources, demand
for warm clothes such as sweater, warmers, high necks, turtle necks, jackets,
blazers and other accessories such as scarves and mufflers increased amongst the
underprivileged. Another important factor behind this drive were to provide clothes
to IDPs of Waziristan who have settled in some parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
A NUST wide clothes donation drive was organized in which students and faculties
of NUST were encouraged to donate unused clothes or other pieces of attire. The
drive was held from 8th till 19th December 2014.
Donations could be made either to respective hostel representative or at both the
Concordias. Also donation boxes were placed at every department of NUST and also
at the mosque near to faculty residence.
We all have clothes that are not being used anymore and simply taking up space.
Those clothes can be put to good use. There are many people who do not have
proper clothes to wear, people who will be immensely grateful for clothes lying
around in our cupboards or storage boxes somewhere in the corner of the house. So
the immediate impact of this drive was to provide needy, deserving people with our
unused clothes.
The learning outcome of organizing and participating in this drive for me was to
contribute to have a discernible impact on the community.
