Disaster Management

Disaster is an adverse or unfortunate event it is a calamity. Disaster can be classified into two types:

Manmade disaster:It include vehicle related accident, forest fires, wars and riot, etc

Natural disaster:Which include wind, water, land related calamities like cyclone,
hurricane, earthquake, flood etc.
Disaster management is a systematic process based on principle of management that is planning,
controlling, organising, leading and coordination. These aims to reduce the negative impact or
consequences of adverse event (i.e, disaster cannot be prevented, but the adverse effects can be
minimised.

Definition :According to FEMA (Federal Emergency Management ) disaster


management defined as, the managerial function charged with creating the
framework within which communities reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope
with disasters.
