Log Book or Journal: Suggested Format For A Reflective Journal

A reflective journal or log book is meant to help students personally reflect on and process their experiences and learning from classes or sessions. The instructor assigns a grade to encourage students to write reflections and so the instructor can identify any problems students are having to provide help. Suggested questions for students to ask themselves in their reflections include what they learned, what surprised them, what they changed their minds about, areas they need to develop further, things they are unsure or afraid of still, what they most liked and disliked, and questions they have for further explanation.

LOG BOOK OR JOURNAL

In education (academia), a written "reflection," is a personal response to an

experience, a reading, or a specific question. What is wanted is that you
demonstrate you understand whatever issue is at hand and that you can respond
to it in writing by connecting it to your own observation, previous experience,
or recent learning.
The purpose of a reflective journal is that you should be the main one to benefit
from it. Writing down your thoughts helps to clarify them in your own mind.
So why are you given a mark for it? Two reasons:
(a) to encourage you to get around to writing it, and
(b) so the instructor can see any problems that you're having, and help to solve
them.
