Sosaythatyougottrappedonanislandandhavenoaccesstofoodorwaterbutatleast
theweatherisnttoohotortoocold.Howlongwillyoulast?Wellifanyoneweretogowithout
drinkinganywatertheirlifeexpectancywillbeaboutthreeorsodaysinaveragetemperatures.

madeupof71%water.Soweshouldntbeterriblyworriedaboutrunningoutofthewaterright?
Wellthatwouldbethecaseasidefromthatfactthat96.5%ofthiswaterissaltwater,andthis
shouldnotbeconsumedasisbecausethesalinityisroughlyfourtimemorethanourbodycan
handle.Soifsomeoneweretoconsumequiteabitofsaltwater,andthebodyinanattemptto
balanceoutthesalinitywillhaveyoupurgeitoutofyoursystemthroughthekidneysbutagain
sinceitsmoresaltcontentthanwecanactuallydisposeof,wegetridofmorewaterthanyou
actuallytakeinleadingtodehydration.

saltorfreshispollution.Nowtherestheobviouswayofpollutionhappeningsuchasunsafe
disposalofwastebothtoxicandnormalorigin,thentheresaccidentssuchastheoilspillcaused
byBPawhileago.Thenthereisrunoff.Thisispollutionthatiswashedawaybylikelandfills
androadsandlatershowsupintotheenvironmentduetoitnotbeingscreenedorfilteredor
bypassinganykindofsystemputinplace.
Waterisn'tsomethingthatweshouldtakeforgranted,itprovidesusessentially
everythingweuseandconsumeinourdaytodaylives.Sojustkeepthisinmindthenexttime
youholdthatbottledwaterinyourhandthatthisisavaluableresource.
