Spring Break is April 3rd- April 12th.

Make sure your child wears a warm coat,

hat, and gloves to school every day.
Have your child practice tying their shoes
and zippering their coats every day!
Please make sure to read at least 15
minutes a night. Bedtime makes the
perfect story time!
Dont forget to follow me on Twitter
(@MsFetters) to see what amazing things
your children are doing in the classroom!

We have just finished up teaching about ck at the end of

words and have now taught all letters and sounds. We also
learned that the letter K takes the vowels i and e in when
spelling words, while the letter C usually begins words that
contain the other three vowels (a, o, u). Next, we will
begin our study on consonant blends: L blends , R blends, and S
blends. We will continue working on identifying and
segmenting beginning, middle and ending sounds in words
when spelling, as well as blending sounds together quickly in
order to read more fluently. For reading comprehension, our
lessons this month will focus on story elements - identifying
who the characters are, what the main idea is, and when and
where the story took place.

Math
In math, our new Unit is called How Many Do you Have where
the children will be focusing on combinations of five, six, and
eight. The children will be learning strategies and given various
tools to solve addition and subtraction problems. The larger
focus will be on counting on (I have 5 and three more 6, 7, 8),
solving story problems in various ways, and representing their
thinking.

Science
This month we will continue our unit of Push, Pull, Go. The
children are learning about various types of force, why objects
move, what can cause them to slow down or stop, and how
systems work together. The children have been enjoying
building with the KNex and seem to be looking forward to what
is coming up next! Keep an eye out for an upcoming Rube
Goldberg Family Project by the end of the Month!

Writing
We will practice writing descriptions of people, places, and
things. We are working hard on identifying nouns, verbs, and
adjectives, and including them in our writing. We will also be
working on writing our high frequency words from memory.
